Every Story Looks Different

Meet Pearle + Angel

A mother and daughter's story from tragedy to hope.

The City of Corona has developed a transformational system of services including homeless prevention, outreach and engagement, emergency shelter, supportive services, and permanent supportive housing to address the complex issue of homelessness head-on. Since 2019, our Homeless Strategic Plan has reduced unsheltered homelessness by 60%.

Meet Rick

”I lost my job, a month later my mom died. Six months later, I’m divorced. Everything hit me at once.” - Rick

Rick is a Corona veteran, formerly homeless neighbor. Hear his story!

SITUATIONALLY HOMELESS Individuals and Families

Meet Stephen

Stephen’s story is like many. Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine he would end up homeless, especially at such a late stage in his life when he thought he was supposed to be enjoying the fruits of his labor. But, everybody has a story…

AT RISK OF HOMELESSNESS

Meet the
Alvarez-Rojo Family

In late 2019, 25-year-old Isabella Rojo found herself sleeping on the steps of a Corona church with her partner — while seven months pregnant with her second child.

Rojo and Anthony Alvarez met in 2018 and since then lost their jobs and home, endured the death of Alvarez’s son, dealt with depression and adjusted to having no car. They went from staying at friends’ and relatives’ couches to living on the streets.

“We were walking around downtown Corona, and here at this church under this archway, I don’t know if they do this on purpose, but there were blankets left out here,” Rojo said.  “It’s crazy. We just slept here on the floor. There were constant worries and fears, like where we’re going to sleep tonight, how are we going to eat?”

Unaccompanied Chronically Homeless Individuals

Homeless and alone.

1.   Mental Illness

2.   Substance Use Disorder

3.   Chronic Health Diseases

4.   Physical Disabilities

To address chronic homelessness, the City of Corona is developing permanent supportive housing solutions so that our chronically homeless neighbors have permanent, affordable housing with services after they graduate from our emergency shelter system.
